Hua Hin has never been the technological hub of Thailand and as a result can be quite frustrating at times when you need to get things done.
It lacks many of the telecommunications services that can be found in Bangkok which is only two hours away, however things are slowly improving as Hua Hin moves forward and develops.
In the center of town things are relatively easy when it comes to technology, telephone lines are of a higher standard, internet cafes are plentiful and there is no shortage of computer and camera suppliers.
The problems often arise for people living a little further out where getting a telephone line installed, internet connected, or computer repaired becomes a bit more of a chore.
Over the years a number of small local computer stores have sprung up in Hua Hin. Most of them are affiliated with larger outfits in Bangkok so can pretty much get most hardware to order.

Up until quite recently (2-3 years ago) the only way to access the internet from Hua Hin was with a dialup connection or expensive satellite technology. Things have moved on since then however getting online can still be a frustrating experience.

As Hua Hin grows the number of quality media outlets is bound to follow suit. There has been a rapid increase in the quantity of English language print publications, radio stations, and websites for the area in the last couple of years.
