Over the past few years, there has been a meteoric rise in the number of optical outlets in Hua Hin. You certainly won't be spoilt for choice as you wander round the centre of town.
Most offer good value for money in comparison to the west and you'll find that frames, lenses and contact lenses are quite a bit cheaper.
Eye tests will generally be free, but not all outlets can provide the level of optical competence that you may be used to, despite many having the most up-to-date equipment. Naturally it's important to get a prescription correct and if you're in doubt about an optician's opinion, consider visiting San Paulo hospital and having a check there as well. Alternatively, bring your latest prescription from home with you and check that against what you are told here.
It's not our intention to compare and recommend opticians - there are simply too many to choose from. So shop wisely and stick to the outlet that you feel gives you the best standard of care.
Some of the names you're likely to encounter are Time Optic and Top Charoen, offering frames from the top brands including Oakley, Ray Ban, Giorgio Armani, Boss and many non branded budget alternatives.
